The top card of each surrounding pile is always available for play, whether you’re moving it onto another pile or sending it straight to the foundations. Building on these surrounding piles offers welcome flexibility, since cards can be arranged either up or down regardless of suit.
There is, however, one important exception to keep in mind: a king can never be placed over an ace, and likewise, an ace can never be placed over a king, so plan your sequences with this rule in mind. Also note that only one card can be moved at a time, keeping the pace steady and deliberate.
